Chris Barns $1 million dollars indorcement deal
Barnes signs $1 million deal with Columbia 300

United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling spokesperson and professional bowler Chris Barnes became only the second bowler to earn a $1 million endorsement deal when he recently signed an eight-year, $1 million sponsorship contract with Columbia 300.
USBC and Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Don Carter was the first athlete in bowling history to receive a $1 million endorsement deal when he signed with Ebonite in 1964. Carter also is believed to be the first athlete to sign a $1 million promotional contract.
"That's pretty elite company. I'm delighted to be there," Barnes said. "I am honored that Columbia has made this kind of commitment. It's a dream come true for me and my family. I'm happy they're comfortable with me as the face of Columbia 300. It's flattering to be in that position."
"Chris is not only the consummate bowler, but a tremendous professional and an exceptional person," said Chip Zielke, Columbia Industries executive vice president of marketing and sales. "Given Columbia 300's storied history and aggressive goals for the future, there is simply no better choice for the face of the brand than Chris Barnes.
"We feel this long-term relationship with Chris not only validates his bowling success and passion for the game, but also validates Columbia 300's passion and commitment to bowling and bowlers everywhere," Zielke added.
The announcement of the endorsement contract was made June 27 at the Bowling Writers' Association of America annual awards dinner held at the Las Vegas Hilton. The long-term deal offers financial security for himself, his wife, Lynda, and their two twin sons, Ryan and Troy.
"Security and long-term relationships are rarities in our industry," said Barnes, 36, USBC Sport Bowling spokesperson since 2003 and a staff member of Vise. "At this stage, family security goes a long way. Columbia 300 is a company that has strong family values. It's been a great fit from the very beginning. This will take me through until the end (of my career). My goal is to get my family in secure position when this great ride I'm on comes to an end."
Barnes owns seven Denny's PBA Tour titles over an eight-season career and was the fastest to reach the $1 million career earnings mark, reaching the milestone in 220 career events. The previous mark of 253 events was held by Pete Weber and Jason Couch. Despite a nagging back injury, Barnes closed out the 2005-06 bowling season by winning the PBA Dexter Tournament of Champions, PBA Motel 6 Roll-to-Riches and the World Tenpin Masters, earning $330,000 prize money in less than two weeks.
In two seasons as a Columbia 300 staff member, Barnes has earned about $800,000 and won both of his major titles - the 2005 U.S. Open presented by Odor-Eaters and the 2006 Dexter Tournament of Champions, both on challenging USBC Sport Bowling lane conditions.
"USBC Sport Bowling always has been proud to be associated with Chris," said Director of USBC Sport Bowling Steve Wunderlich. "His stature as one of today's brightest stars on the PBA Tour is demonstrated by the commitment shown by Columbia 300 in signing Chris to this long-term sponsorship contract."

So Many bowling balls so many choices
How do i know what bowling ball is going to be good for me?
from working in a pro-shop so manny years one of the most common questions i get every day are,
1.what is the best bowling ball?
2.what bowling ball is good?
3.does this bowling ball curv?
4.what if the difference between a cheep ball and an expencive ball
answers
1.There is no such thing as the best bowling ball some time i wish a ball company would come out with a ball called the best ball so i could show people and say this is the best ball, just kidding. no matter who you are the best ball is what kind of reaction you are looking for compared to what you already have. If you dont have a ball the best thing i can recamend is take a look at the prices of the ball's i know this might sound like a salesmen to you but there is some truth to this pick a ball that is priced eairther in the middle or towards the less expencive ball. for 2 reasons bowling balls are priced on how much hook potenchell they have if you are just starting out or you are just replaceing the 30 yhear old ball that you have now you dont want to pick one of the top hooking balls because you might never get the full hook out of them because you simpely dont get enough rotation on the ball needed to get the full hook out of it. Or if you are just starting you want to first make sure you are going to like bowling enough to spend $200.00 on a ball first and to see if you can through the ball right.2nd if you do deside that you need more hook you can upgrade to a bigger hooking ball. The first ball is still needed because the lane condishions change when you get less oil on the lane that high priced bowling ball may hook to much so then you would go to your first ball and it should be the righ ball for the lane condishion.
2.there is no such thing as a good bowling ball or a bad bowling ball you basicly got 2 types of bowling balls reactive and plastic balls. they are all good for different things if i had a ten pin i wouldnt thorugh a reactive ball at it i would through a plastic ball at it. so knowing what you want or what you need reaction wize is the key to buying a new bowling ball. How do i know what i need? you might ask go to your local pro-shop and ask the pro if he or she could watch you through some shots if they cant ask when they could if they say never walk out the door and go to the next pro-shop trust me i know all pro-shops will have some time to watch you through some shots some time in the day.If they tell you this is the ball FOR YOU with out seeing you bowl they are just trying to get rid of the ball to replace it with the new line up.
3. yes that ball does curv. it's how much is the question that should be asked a good rule of thumb is the more expencive it cost the more hook potenchell it has.even plastic balls hook just not verry much. when in a pro-shop you might see 2 different typs of finneshes a shinny finsh and a sanded finsh the shinny will go down the lane further and hook at the end and the sanded finsh will hook more at the begging of the lane..
4.The main difference is hook potenchell the cheeper or less expencive will hook less and the more expencive will hook more notice the image of the ball on the tag that is next to it you should see the inside of the ball they have all different shapes and sizes usily the more hook the bigger the weight block that is the weight the drives the ball through the pins i could have a plastic ball 16lbs. or a reactive ball 14lbs the plastic ball should hit the pin's harder right nope the reactive ball will because a plastic ball is solind all the way through so when it hits the first pin its going to deflect to thr right or to the left a reactive ball has the weight block inside and when the ball flips or changes rotation thats the weight forceing the ball into the pin's so there will bee less deflection therefor it is hitting the pind harder then the plastic is. the bigger the weight block the harder the ball is going to hit....

Bowling balls i recamend
for spares any plastic ball they are all the same the just look different
for a big hook early go with THE BIG ONE a late hook go with THE ONE(ball of the year)
for the mid range hook the SR300 from ebonite seems to have lots of hitting power and a strong late finish
for the low end hook deffently go with ebonits blue ICE i have never had a better bowling ball by far is the best ball for my game(cranker)
cranker-spin the ball alot 25 rotations and more. will get the full hook potenchell
tweener-skid then spin about 15-25 rotations will get 3/4's of hook potenchell
stroker-less spin more skid will get 1/2 of hook potenchell

Technology
The Radical Inferno® is the first ball to take full advantage of Brunswick’s new Urethane casting machine. The machine is part of a custom built “State-of-the-Art” room full of high-tech equipment that incorporates enhanced control over processing parameters. This machine includes a sensor system that monitors temperatures, pressures and flow rates at every important point in the casting process. Our new mixing head is multi-color and particle capable. This all new system allows the Brunswick R&D team the unprecedented ability to fine tune bowling ball performance.
Octane Coverstock
Our new Urethane casting machine has enabled Brunswick to produce a new class of Reactive coverstock. Octane coverstock is the result of 3 years of Research and Development into both materials technology and Urethane processing parameters. The same meticulous screening of materials that produced the Activator coverstock family has now resulted in Octane. Improved back-end traction with a sharper breakpoint, Octane is a perfect complement to the Activator coverstock balls known for their early revving ball reaction.
Reaction Characteristics
The Radical Inferno is in the highly angular ball reaction class with a high traction breakpoint that is sharp, powerful and continuous. With its high gloss polish surface the Radical Inferno gets down the lane and through the heads with ease. What is unique about the Radical is its ability the make a sharp, continuous turn to the pocket with more traction at the breakpoint. Our ball test group has commented at length about their ability to keep their speed up with the Radical Inferno, without the ball losing traction down lane in heavy oil or heavy carrydown. The Radical is the best they have ever seen in a highly polished Brunswick ball.
Utility
—Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the Radical Inferno will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily conditions.
When dulled: The Radical Inferno hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions. The testing program for the Radical Inferno has identified two favored surface finishes. One is the Factory Finish High Gloss Polish that is being used on the Radical. The other is a dull, but very smooth surface typical of Scotch Bright White Pad or Abralon grits of 1000 or greater. If you bowl on a lane condition where your Radical Inferno goes too long and struggles to make a strong backend move, Brunswick strongly recommends that you remove the polish from the ball with a burgundy Scotch Bright pad, or similar aggressive abrasive, then use the Grey and White Scotch Bright pads, or the 500 & 1000 grit Abralon pads to create a dull, but very smooth surface finish.
The PBA Inferno is a heavy oil ball designed for bowlers who prefer Reactive over Particle coverstocks. The PBA Inferno uses the same core as the original Inferno but combines it with a solid 800-grit dull version of Activator coverstock.
PBA Inferno
Compared to the original Inferno:
The PBA Inferno will match-up better to oily lane conditions, longer patterns and heavy carry down.
The PBA Inferno will match-up better for bowlers who struggle with excessively long ball reaction.
Coverstock: Activator™ Aggressive Reactive
Color: Blue solid/Yellow solid
Ball Finish: 800-grit wet sand
Hardness: 76-78
Hook Potential: 150 on a scale of 10-175 Low-High
Length: 55 on a scale of 25-235 Early-Late
RG Max: 2.513"
RG Min: 2.463"
RG Differential: 0.050"
RG Average: 2.6 out of 10
Breakpoint Shape: 60
Best Lane Condition: Oily
The PBA Inferno will match-up better on heavily oiled - over/under lane conditions.
Brunswick's new Activator Coverstock has quickly established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. On the lanes, Activator Coverstock is clean through the heads with excellent mid-lane recovery and a strong arcing back-end reaction that creates powerful pin action. Owners of the original Inferno have reported that it requires less frequent resurfacing and rejuvenations and is more resistant to cracking than other reactive coverstock balls.
UtilityOut of the box: The PBA Inferno is an ideal heavy oil ball for players wanting to use a Reactive coverstock.
When shined: Using Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action of the PBA Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.
Reaction Setup
The PBA Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.
The PBA Inferno is finished with a dull 800-grit surface finish which increases its hooking action in the oil. Dull surface finishes can sometimes hook too early resulting in reduced backend reaction and hitting power. To increase length, polish the surface with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.
The Scorchin' Inferno is an upgrade of the popular Ultimate Inferno. The two color solid, sanded reactive coverstock combination has been one of the most popular in the industry. The Scorchin' Inferno uses this configuration with an upgraded version of Activator coverstock called ActivatorMAX.
Coverstock: ActivatorMAX
Color: Black Solid / Red Solid
Ball Finish: 600-grit wet sand
Hook Potential: 160 on a scale of 10-175 Low-High
Length: 50 on a scale of 25-235 Early-Late
RG Differential: 0.042
RG Average: 2.4 out of 10
Breakpoint Shape: 70
Best Lane Condition: Medium Oily to Oily
ActivatorMAX is the latest development in Activator coverstock technology. ActivatorMAX preserves the clean reaction through the heads that Inferno balls are known for while increasing mid-lane and back-end hooking action in heavier volumes of oil.
Extensive on-lane testing places the best RG match-up for ActivatorMAX at a slightly higher value than that used for the Ultimate Inferno. For maximum forgiveness and versatility the Scorchin' uses a higher Average-RG, and lower differential version of the Ultimate Inferno core.
When compared to the Ultimate Inferno, the Scorchin' Inferno has the unique Activator clean reaction through the heads with increased mid-lane recovery, break-point angularity, a higher hook potential and improved traction in heavy carrydown. The Scorchin' Inferno is a heavy oil ball designed for bowlers who prefer Reactive over Particle coverstocks.
Since 2003, Brunswick's line of Activator Coverstocks has established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. Activator Coverstocks offer a wide range of hook potentials and arc characteristics that enable bowlers to match-up to all but the driest of lane conditions.
Activator — Clean reaction through the heads combined with mid-lane recovery and a powerful back-end reaction.
Activator® Particle — More traction in the oil. Smoother reaction off the dry.
Activator® Plus — Amazing recovery and traction with the length of a pearlized ball.
Activator® Advance — More length with increased angularity.
NEW- ActivatorMAX — Increased traction in the mid-lane and back-ends. The highest hook potential Activator. — NEW
Utility
Out of the box: The Scorchin' Inferno is an ideal heavy oil ball for players wanting to use a Reactive coverstock.
When shined: Using Brunswick's Factory Finish Rough Buff the total hooking action of the Scorchin' Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap. Using Brunswick's Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action will be further reduced and the arc made even more skid/snap.
Reaction Setup
The Scorchin' Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details. The Scorchin' Inferno is finished with a dull 600-grit surface which increases its hooking action in the oil. Dull surface finishes can sometimes hook too early resulting in reduced backend reaction and hitting power. To increase length, polish the surface with Brunswick's Factory Finish Rough Buff. To increase length and create and even more skid/snap reaction use Brunswick's Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.
Smokin'Inferno
Coverstock: Activator Advance Pearl
Color: Black Pearl/Ivory
Ball Finish: High Gloss Polish
Hook Potential: 135 (High) on a scale of 10-175 Low-High
Length: 100 (Early) on a scale of 25-235 Early-Late
RG Differential: 0.042
RG Average: 2.539
Breakpoint Shape: 95
Best Lane Condition: Medium-Dry to Medium Oily
The Inferno line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Defined by Ultra-Low RG Core Systems and Activator coverstock technology, the Inferno line is known for its clean front-ends and a quick revving core that helps create mid-lane recovery and a hard arcing back-end reaction. The Smokin' Inferno debuts the latest addition to the Activator Coverstock family. Activator Advance is a new version of Activator coverstock technology that matches up best to a higher RG core system, compared to other Inferno's, delivering more back-end hooking action and the most angular Inferno to date. The Activator Advance coverstock has been RG matched to produce maximum forgiveness and versatility. The RG chosen for the Smokin' Inferno produces a ball that is less sensitive to backend and ball track transitions than higher or lower RG options that were tested. The Smokin' Inferno combines design elements in a unique way that produces spectacular results. Low-RG but very angular. A High Gloss Polish surface with a high hook potential. The Smokin' Inferno is an excellent match-up on all but the oiliest and driest lane conditions.
UtilityOut of the box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the Smokin' Inferno will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily conditions.
When dulled: The Smokin' Inferno hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.
Reaction Setup
The Smokin' Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.
Absolute Inforno
Coverstock: Activator+
Color: Blue Pearl/Orange Pearl
Ball Finish: Rough Buff
Best Lane Condition: Medium-Dry to Medium Oily
Find out with the new Absolute Inferno from Brunswick. Combining the red-hot performance of the original Inferno's Ultra-Low RG core with the aggressiveness of a rough-buff, pearlized Activator Plus coverstock, the Absolute Inferno sets a new standard for traction that leaves the other balls behind. For improved hook potential, a more angular breakpoint, and better mid-lane recovery and forgiveness, there's only one absolute you can count on - Absolute Inferno.
Brunswick Activator Coverstock has quickly established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. On the lanes, Activator Coverstock balls are clean through the heads with excellent mid-lane recovery and strong arcing back-end reactions that create powerful pin action. Owners of the original Inferno have reported that it requires less frequent resurfacing and/or rejuvenation and is more resistant to cracking than other reactive coverstock balls.
Activator Plus is a more aggressive version of the original Activator coverstock formulation that maintains the durability and longevity of ball reaction that are characteristic of the Activator coverstock family. The rough-buff, pearlized version of Activator Plus coverstock used on the Absolute Inferno creates more traction in the oil, increasing the ball's mid-lane and backend hooking action, while still being clean through the front end. When combined with the more angular breakpoint of the Activator Plus coverstock, this creates a ball with excellent mid-lane recovery and strong back-end power that is very forgiving, allowing the bowler more room for error.
Utility
-Out of the box: The Absolute Inferno is an ideal ball for medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions.
-When shined: Using Brunswick's Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action of the Absolute Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.
-When dulled: The Absolute Inferno's hooking action will increase providing a better match-up for oily lane conditions.
Reaction Setup
The Absolute Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details. The Absolute Inferno is finished with a new Rough Buff compound finish. To bring you Absolute Inferno back to its original factory finish use Brunswick's new Factory Finish Rough Buff.

Get ready to score with the Brunswick Red Zone. Brunswick engineers have drawn up a new playmaker that offers control and explosive hitting power to tackle the toughest lane conditions. Put the new Red Zone on your team and reach your goal of more consistent scoring.
The Red Zone is an upgrade to the popular Zone Classic. By eliminating the pearl from the Zone Classic and using a solid version of Activator coverstock, backend traction in carrydown is improved. The Red Zone delivers the utility of a highly polished ball with improved ability to handle oil down lane.
Best suited for Medium-dry to Medium-oily lane conditions. The Red Zone retains the popular Activator ball reaction. Clean through the heads but with an early revving type of roll that promotes mid-lane recovery and a powerful but continuous breakpoint.
Utility
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the Red Zone will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily conditions.
When dulled: The Red Zone hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.

The Vapor Zone brings the popular reaction of the Absolute Inferno to the Zone Asymmetric line. The Vapor Zone combines the same rough buff Activator Plus coverstock used on the Absolute Inferno with the Ultra-Low-RG Asymmetrical core system from the Zone Classic. This core/coverstock combination produces an Absolute Inferno like ball reaction with the drilling options of an asymmetrical core.
In the front-ends:
The Activator Plus coverstock is clean through the fronts, saving more reaction for the back-ends. This provides improved hitting power and back-end recovery while reducing sensitivity to breakdown in front-end lane conditions and lane surfaces that are less than ideal..
In the mid-lane:
The Ultra-Low RG core provides strong mid-lane recovery while the Activator Plus provides improved traction in the oil with a smoother, more effective reaction off the dry. This combination reduces over/under reaction by making the wet play less wet and the dry, less dry, effectively allowing the bowler to create more area.
On the back-ends:
The Activator Plus coverstock is powerful and continuous from the breakpoint through the pins. Improved traction in the oil allows the Vapor Zone to bite through the carry down and aggressively change direction without breaking loose from the lane. The strong rolling characteristics of the Ultra-Low RG core make this move more readable allowing the bowler to open up the lane.
Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: The Vapor Zone is an ideal ball more medium-dry to all but the oiliest lane conditions.
When shined: Using Brunswick's Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action of the Vapor Zone can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.
When dulled: The Vapor Zone's hooking action will increase providing a better match-up for oily lane conditions.

The Strike Zone combines the same 800-grit Activator solid coverstock used on the Ultimate Inferno with the Ultra-Low-RG Asymmetrical core system from the Zone Classic. This core/coverstock combination produces an Ultimate Inferno like ball reaction with the drilling options of an asymmetrical core.
In the front-ends:
The Activator coverstock is clean through the fronts, saving more reaction for the back-ends. This provides improved hitting power and back-end recovery while reducing sensitivity to breakdown in front-end lane conditions and lane surfaces that are less than ideal.
In the mid-lane:
The Ultra-Low RG core provides strong mid-lane recovery while the Activator coverstock provides improved traction in the oil with a smoother, more effective reaction off the dry. BVP - Brunswick Value Performance - Exceptional Value and Great Performance
The Brunswick BVP series was developed to provide the widest range of reactions available at the popular moderate price point. The BVP series provides any bowler the ball performance they’re looking for at a price they can afford.
The BVP Wizard targets one of the most popular reactions in the bowling ball industry, Reactive Solid Sanded. This type of ball reaction is embraced by many bowlers as the best all-around combination of coverstock and surface finish. Providing high hook potential with good pin carry and controllable ball reactions.
Aggressive Reactive Coverstock: PowrKoilTM 18 has been on more bowling balls than any other Reactive coverstock in the bowling industry. PowrKoil18 has been used on some of Brunswick’s most successful balls including the Danger Zone, Red Alert and BVP Nemesis. Aggressive in the oil and strong off the dry, PowrKoil18 is a perennial favorite among all styles of bowlers.
800-Grit Wet Sand Finish: The Wizard is finished with an 800-grit wet sand finish which will allow most bowlers to match-up to both freshly oiled and moderately broken down house conditions. Plenty of traction on all but the oiliest lanes combined with a strong backend reaction.
Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: With its 800-grit wet sand surface, the Wizard matches up well on most medium to oily house conditions.
When dulled: The hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and for smoothing over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.
When shined: With either Brunswick's Factory Finish "High Gloss Polish" or "Rough Buff", your Wizard will go longer in the oil and react stronger to the dry creating a more skid/snap arc. High Gloss Polish creates more length than Rough Buff.
Reaction Setup
The BVP Wizard can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details. The BVP Wizard is finished with a dull 800-grit surface which increases its hooking action in the oil. Dull surface finishes can sometimes hook too early resulting in reduced backend reaction and hitting power. To increase length, polish the surface with Brunswick’s Factory Finish Rough Buff. To increase length and create and even more skid/snap reaction use Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.

Best Lane Conditions: Medium to Drier Lane Conditions
The Power Groove line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Designed primarily for bowlers buying their first performance ball, the Power Groove line delivers a tremendous amount of hook potential for the money.
The Power Groove Dry/R Green/Chrome is designed for a different type of bowler and lane condition.
Less traction in the oil, a smoother reaction off the dry and a lower hook potential than the shiny Power Groove reactive balls, the Power Groove DryR delivers a better match-up on dry lane conditions.
High RPM players will find the Power Groove Dry/R to be the tamest of Brunswick's reactive coverstock balls, making it an excellent ball to go to on dry lane conditions.
Low speed players who struggle to get the ball down the lane will find the Power Groove Dry/R creates more length, saving its hooking action for the back-end where it belongs.
Coverstock: The Green/Chrome Pearl features PowerBoost Dry, a tamer version of the PowerBoost reactive coverstock found on balls in the BVP line.
Core: The Power Groove DryR Green/Chrome uses Brunswick's DISC (Differential Increasing Side Cylinders) core technology which provides:
The largest track flare potential of any ball in its class.
Consistent track flare potentials at all weights from 12-16 pounds.
Larger, more consistent pin-out distances at all weights from 12-16 pounds.
A more driller friendly design. The precise geometric placement of high density side cylinders maximizes the increase in Track Flare Potential while maintaining symmetry for easy drilling.
Reaction Setup
Your Power Groove Dry/R Green/Chrome Pearl can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls. Since the Power Groove Dry/R is intended for drier lane conditions Brunswick recommends using pin positions between 4 1/2" to 5 3/4", avoiding the most aggressive 3 3/8" (leverage) pin position. See the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.
Your Power Groove Dry/R Green/Chrome Pearl is finished with a high gloss surface which enhances its appearance and reduces hooking action in the oil. High gloss finishes can sometimes cause over/under reactions, too little hooking action in the oil, then too much hooking action off the dry, which can be hard to control. To increase hooking action and smooth out the ball reaction dull the surface, first with a fine 800-1000 grit abrasive. If more hooking action and a smoother reaction is desired dull the surface of the ball with a coarse 320-400 grit abrasive.

Plastic slips. The Groove grips. And grip is exactly what you need to improve your game. When you're ready to step up from plastic, get in the Groove.
Ready to start hooking the ball? Move up from Plastic to Reactive coverstock technology. Compared to Plastic, Reactive coverstock technology increases traction and hooking action in the oil, and Reactive coverstocks can be sanded or shined to create large differences in hook potential. Reactive coverstocks also respond more aggressively to dry lane surfaces than Urethane coverstocks, increasing backend hooking action and hitting power.
Coverstock: The Neon Green/Purple Pearl & Ice Blue feature Brunswick's popular PowrKoil 17 Reactive coverstock. First used on the Sapphire Zone, PowrKoil 17 is the strongest Reactive coverstock ever used on a Groove class ball.

"Mid-Priced Particle Pearl Category"
The Brunswick BVP™ series has been developed to provide the widest range of reactions available at the popular mid-price point. The BVP series provides any bowler the ball performance they’re looking for at a price they can afford.
Technology
The BVP Ambushfeatures a Pearlized Low Load Particle coverstock. Known for mid-lane recovery with controlled and continuous breakpoints, the Brunswick low load particle ball reaction has been a favorite for many types of bowlers on both high scoring house shots and more demanding sport lane conditions.
The BVP Ambush’s version of the low load particle coverstock is an updated version of the same coverstock made popular by the Fuze Eliminator, Danger Zone Pro HPD and Navy Quantum. The BVP version includes a hint of pearl in addition to the particles. The Ambush’s Low load particle coverstock delivers more traction in the oil and more gradual reaction to the driest parts of the lane than pure reactive coverstocks.
On typical house shots the BVP Ambush’s low load particle coverstock helps smooth over reactions to the driest parts of the lane creating a smoother but more predictable ball reaction that many bowlers prefer.
On more demanding sport shots the BVP Ambush’s low load particle coverstock increases mid-lane traction helping to create mid-lane recovery and improve the skid/roll/hook ball transition when reactive coverstock balls are going too long .
Utility
•Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the BVP Ambush will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions.
•When dulled:The BVP Ambush’s hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.
Reaction Setup
The BVP Ambush can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.
The BVP Ambush is finished with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. To bring your BVP Ambush back to its original factory finish sand the surface to 400-grit then use Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. Available from your local Pro Shop.

Length: 100 (25 to 235 scale 235=Late)
Breakpoint Shape: 90 (10 to 100 scale 100=Angular)
Best Lane Conditions: Medium-dry to Medium-oily

Best Lane Conditions: Medium-oily to Medium-dry
The Strike Zone brings the popular reaction of the Ultimate Inferno to the Zone Asymmetric line.
This combination reduces over/under reaction by making the wet play less wet and the dry, less dry, effectively allowing the bowler to create more area.
On the back-ends:
The Activator coverstock is powerful and continuous from the breakpoint through the pins. Improved traction in the oil allows the Strike Zone to bite through the carry down and aggressively change direction without breaking loose from the lane. The strong rolling characteristics of the Ultra-Low RG core make this move more readable allowing the bowler to open up the lane.
Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: The Strike Zone is an ideal heavy oil ball for players wanting to use a Reactive coverstock.
When shined: Using Brunswick’s Factory Finish “Rough Buff” or “High Gloss Polish” the total hooking action of the Strike Zone can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.

Flare Potential: 0.041 (0.0 to 0.080 scale)
Length: 180 (25 to 235 scale)
Breakpoint Shape: 65 (10 to 100 scale)

Core: The Neon Green/Purple Pearl & Ice Blue introduce Brunswick's new DISC (Differential Increasing Side Cylinders) core technology which provides:
The largest track flare potential of any ball in its class. Consistent track flare potentials at all weights from 12-16 pounds.

JONES WIN's PLAYER OF THE YEAR
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- The votes have been cast and the results are in: Ebonite Tour staff player, Tommy Jones, has been chosen as the 2005-2006 Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year, the PBA announced today.
“Seeing Tommy recognized as the Player of the Year is a dream we have had for him since he joined the Ebonite brand and began his pro career in 2001,” says Ed Gallagher, Ebonite brand manager. “We’re thrilled to join thousands of his fans in wishing Tommy our heart-felt congratulations! It’s a well-deserved honor for him and Ebonite is proud to be associated with such a tremendous player and person.”
In his fifth season on Tour, Jones led all bowlers in earnings with $301,700, the third-highest single-season total of all-time. He also finished second in points (237,886), tied for first in match play appearances (19), tied for second in TV appearances (6) and finished fifth in average (221.68).*
In Tommy’s first year on Tour he won the 2002 Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year Award, joins PBA Hall of Famer Mike Aulby as the only two bowlers in Tour history to win both awards in their career. Since then, Tommy has captured eight tour titles, four of those wins coming this season, including back-to-back wins at the Japan Cup (2004 and 2005), The Tulsa Championship, Bayer Atlanta Classic and his first Major at the 63rd U.S. Open. This year’s season-ending awards were voted on by the PBA membership as well as the bowling media after the season concluded.
According to Tommy, his run-away victory season was due in large part to Ebonite’s new ball, The One.
“I drilled up several of The One balls and don’t hit the lanes without it. It’s the most aggressive high performance ball to come onto the market in a long time and it’s taken me to the winner’s circle several times.”
Prior to joining the Tour, Tommy bowled at the amateur level in South Carolina. Now, a resident of Simpsonville, Tommy spends his summers on the golf course and conducting seminars and demos for Ebonite. He and his wife, Kristen, have a baby girl, Ella.
Bowling fans will be seeing a lot of more Tommy… after his unstoppable season, he’s earned his Tour exemption through 2009!

EBONITE'S XXCEL OFFERS DOUBLE THE PERFORMANCE
HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. - Praise continues to flood in for Ebonite's Xcel ball line. As promised, bowlers love the accelerated performance of the series' Scalien core and Bomber coverstock. Now, the company is serving up a double portion of heavy-hitting performance in its latest introduction, the Xxcel.
"Xxcel is the result of creative design and extensive testing by our research and development experts," said Ed Gallagher, brand manager for Ebonite. "This unique formulation is the first of several new high performance beauties from Ebonite this season." Xxcel, a tournament player's dream in heavy oil, offers the same overall hook of its predecessor but is longer through the fronts and stronger on the backend. Ebonite minimized the particle loading of the Xcel and added two knobs to the Scalien core to create this powerful ball and the result is a long, tumbling trajectory that leads to victory. The Xxcel will be available in Mid to late February in 14 - 16 pounds and black/red/bright blue color trio.
